Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Quencher® the same thing as a Stanley cup?

Yes, in practice. "Stanley cup" is what most people call the Quencher®, and if that is what you searched for, this is the range you were looking for.

Stanley 1913 Quencher®

The Quencher® is the one people mean when they say Stanley cup. Big enough that you fill it once and stop thinking about water, with a handle that makes a 1.18L tumbler carryable and a base that still fits a cupholder.

Double-wall vacuum insulated stainless steel, which is why it is still cold in the afternoon, and available in more colours than anything else we make.

Quencher® H2.0 FlowState™ or Quencher® ProTour

The two styles differ at the lid, and that is the whole decision.

Quencher® H2.0 FlowState™

The FlowState™ lid gives you three ways to drink: a straw opening, a wide drinking opening, and a full cover. Rotate the lid to put the opening on either side of the handle, which matters more than it sounds if you are left-handed.

Quencher® ProTour.

A leakproof flip straw lid. Thumb up, drink, press shut. Choose this one if the tumbler travels with a lid that needs to seal.

Both are double-wall vacuum insulated. Both have the handle. Our guide to Quencher® or IceFlow™ covers how the range compares to the flip straw range as a whole.

Sizes, from Baby to 1.18L

The Quencher® runs from small cups for children up to 1.18L, which is 40oz, for a full day without refilling.

Mini and small. Sized for smaller hands, school bags and shorter days, in the same steel and the same insulation as the full-size version.

Standard. The one most people picture. Enough for a morning without becoming something you have to plan around.

1.18L. Fill it once. This is the size that made the range, and the reason people stop carrying two bottles.

Colours

More colourways than any other Stanley range, and they change with the season. If you are trying to find a particular shade, our colour guide runs through the palette, and last season's colours move to Sale rather than disappearing.

Cold Drinks Only

Worth being direct about this rather than burying it. The Quencher® is designed for cold drinks and is not recommended for hot liquids. The straw and the wide drinking opening can deliver hot liquid to your mouth faster than you expect, which is a scalding risk rather than a performance one.

If you want hot, our Travel Mugs and Flasks are built for it.

Built for Life, Built to Last

The Quencher® became popular for reasons that had little to do with marketing: it holds temperature, it survives being dropped, and the parts that wear are replaceable. Lids and straws can be swapped rather than retiring the tumbler, and stainless steel does not stain, crack or take on the taste of what you drank last week.

Prefer a flip straw across bottles as well as tumblers? See IceFlow™. For plain hydration without the handle, Water Bottles. The full tumbler range, including styles outside this collection, is under Tumblers, and everything we make sits in Drinkware.
