Is a Quencher® the same thing as a Stanley cup?

Yes, in practice. "Stanley cup" is what most people call the Quencher®, and if that is what you searched for, this is the range you were looking for.

Stanley 1913 Cups: The Quencher® Range

The Quencher® is the one people mean when they say Stanley cup. Big enough that you fill it once and stop thinking about water, with a handle that makes a 1.18L tumbler carryable and a base that still fits a cupholder.

Double-wall vacuum insulated stainless steel, which is why it is still cold in the afternoon, and available in more colours than anything else we make.

Quencher® H2.0 FlowState™ or Quencher® ProTour

The two styles differ at the lid, and that is the whole decision.

Quencher® H2.0 FlowState™

The FlowState™ lid gives you three ways to drink: a straw opening, a wide drinking opening, and a full cover. Rotate the lid to put the opening on either side of the handle, which matters more than it sounds if you are left-handed.

Quencher® ProTour

A leakproof flip straw lid. Thumb up, drink, press shut. This is the flip straw Stanley cup, and it is the one to choose if the tumbler travels with a lid that has to seal. For the same mechanism on bottles rather than tumblers, see Flip Straw Bottles.

Sizes, from Mini to 1.9L

The Quencher® runs from small cups for children up to 1.18L, which is 40oz, for a full day without refilling.

Mini and small

The Quencher® runs from mini sizes for smaller hands up to 1.9 litres, which is a full day and then some without refilling. The capacities in the range:

  • Small: 0.59L | 590ml | 20oz
  • Standard: 0.89L | 890ml | 30oz
  • Large: 1.18L | 1,180ml | 40oz
  • Extra large: 1.9L | 1,900ml | 64oz

Mini sizes sit below these, in the same steel and the same insulation as the full-size versions.

Which to choose

0.59L suits a commute, a school bag or a desk. 0.89L is the one most people settle on and covers a morning without becoming something you plan around. 1.18L is the size that made the range and the reason people stop carrying two bottles. 1.9L is for a full working day, a long drive or a hot afternoon outdoors, and it is a considered purchase rather than a first one.

Colours

More colourways than any other Stanley 1913 range, and they change with the season.

Pink is the shade people look for most, and there is far more of it than one collection page can show. Our Shades of Pink edit puts the whole of it on a single page, from the palest to the deepest. For every other shade, the colour guide works through the palette one at a time.

When a colourway is retired it usually reappears in Sale before it goes for good, so a shade you were too slow on is often still gettable.

Cold Drinks Only

Worth being direct about this rather than burying it. The Quencher® is designed for cold drinks and is not recommended for hot liquids. The straw and the wide drinking opening can deliver hot liquid to your mouth faster than you expect, which is a scalding risk rather than a performance one.

Built for Life, Built to Last

The Quencher® became popular for reasons that had little to do with marketing: it holds temperature, it survives being dropped, and the bits that give out first can be replaced. A lost straw is a straw, not a new tumbler, and a scuffed boot can be swapped for a fresh one. Stainless steel does not stain, crack or take on the taste of what you drank last week.
